American sponsor Jane Clarke has acquired a new WEG horse for her dressage rider Katherine Bateson-Chandler. Laurens van Lieren’s 10-year old mare Hexagon’s Wellnetta has been sold to Clarke last week.

The A.E.S. registered dark bay mare Wellnetta (by Louisville x Rubiquil x Symfonie) was Laurens van Lieren’s number one Grand Prix horse and the pair was selected to compete on the Dutch team at the 2013 CDIO Aachen this week.

Van Lieren has been showing the mare extensively this 2013 show season with starts in Drachten, ‘s Hertogenbosch, Vidauban, Hagen, and Roosendaal. They won bronze at the 2013 Dutch Indoor Championships and were members of the Dutch B-team.   Before Laurens took over the ride, the mare was started by Israeli Raz Nitzani, who competed her at Fourth level at the 2010 Dutch Indoor Championships.

Four years ago Clarke bought the Dutch Grand Prix horse Nartan (by Jazz x Le Faquin) for Bateson to ride at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. This year Wellnetta will be Katherine’s 2014 WEG hopeful while her small tour horse Alcazar (aka Alonso – by Contago x Ferro) continues to mature.

The British born Bateson is currently training with Carl Hester in Great Britain.
